Day 1: Arrival in Lima
Greetings and welcome to Lima! You will be meeting your amazing Group Leader at the airport who will then accompany you to your accommodations for you to settle in. After meeting your group for an orientation and safety overview, you will all embark on a fun walk to explore the beautiful Miraflores. This sounds like an incredible way to start your trip!
Day 2: Lima Reality Tour & Flight to Cusco
Today, we’re going on an exciting adventure to visit some of MEDLIFE’s partner communities. Not only will you get to learn about poverty and global health, but you’ll also have fun practicing your Spanish with the community members! We’ll take a break for lunch and then come back together to reflect on our day before heading out to catch our flight to Cusco later in the day. Let’s get ready for an unforgettable experience!
Day 3: Exploring Cusco
In the morning, you will have a Spanish lesson with your local Group Leader. Then, enjoy a lively walk around the beautiful Cusco main square, checking out cool spots and getting familiar with the area. Post-lunch, the fun continues with a trip to the Choco Museo for an awesome chocolate-making workshop!
Visit the Cusco Planetarium for a fascinating journey into the universe, seen from the unique perspective of the Incas.
Day 4 & 5: Service Days
Every morning, you will have a Spanish lesson with your local Group Leader. After that, we will visit a local MEDLIFE partner community to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by the people in the community. During this visit, we will also practice our language skills to facilitate genuine interactions with the locals.
Spend the afternoon putting your language skills to use during your service project with locals. In the past, some of the projects have included building greenhouses and renovating homes.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in cultural activities such as cooking classes, traditional weaving, and learning about Peruvian farms to enhance your interaction with locals. In the evenings, you can reflect, discuss events as a group, draw connections between the day’s work and relevant global issues, and continue practicing your Spanish.
Day 6: Machu Picchu
In the morning, embark on a train journey to Aguas Calientes, setting the stage for an unforgettable visit to Machu Picchu, the legendary “Lost City of the Inca” and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. After exploring this ancient marvel, board your evening train to Ollantaytambo, followed by a transfer to the Sacred Valley.
Day 7: Pisac Market Challenge
Begin your day with a morning Spanish lesson led by your local Group Leader, then transfer to the Pisac Market, where you’ll have free time to browse traditional Andean handicrafts and keep testing your Spanish skills!
After enjoying lunch, return to Cusco, making a stop at Mirador de Cusco for a memorable photo opportunity.
Day 8: Flight to Lima – Exploring Lima
In the morning we will fly to Lima. Discover the vibrant city of Lima at your own pace or choose from our array of exciting add-ons and optional activities.
If we have some energy left, we can also visit Lima’s Magic Water Circuit after dinner, which is a stunning show of music, water, and laser lights. It’s an optional plan, but it’s definitely worth it!
Day 9: Departure
Enjoy some final free time to explore or relax. Conclude your adventure with a reflection session, gathering insights and memories, before transferring to the airport for your return flight home.
