Day 1: Arrival to Lima
Welcome to LIM Airport! Look for a MEDLIFE associate with the Engaged Education logo. Relax and settle into the hotel. Meals not provided, but nearby restaurants are available. Rejuvenate and prepare for impactful days ahead!
Day 2: Lima City Tour and LUM
Explore Lima’s historical center in the morning, uncovering its captivating past. After lunch, visit Lugar de la Memoria to learn about Peru’s recent history and reflect on its collective memory. Optional visit to Lima’s Magic Water Circuit after dinner, a stunning show of music, water, and laser lights.
Day 3: Reality Tour
Start the day with a hearty breakfast at the hostel. Join the immersive Reality Tour, exploring urban settlements where MEDLIFE makes a difference. Confront challenging realities and witness MEDLIFE’s impact at Mini MED Center in Union Santa Fe community. Broaden your perspective and make a positive impact!
Day 4: Arrival to Cusco
Arrive at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport (CUZ) by midday or earlier. Brief orientation walk helps you get familiar with Cusco. Afterward, rest and acclimate to the altitude.
Day 5: Cusco City Tour
Start your day in Cusco, discovering Sacsayhuaman, Puca Pucara, Tambomachay, and more! Later, soak up Cusco’s vibrant culture at “Centro Qosqo de Arte Nativo.”
Day 6: The Sacred Valley!
Discover the Sacred Valley, only 45 minutes from Cusco. Visit the captivating Sounds of the Andes Interpretation Center in Cuyo Chico. Experience the ancient art of crafting clay instruments and immerse yourself in the Inca heritage. Engage in a hands-on ceramic workshop. Later, explore the remarkable Pisac Archaeological Site for more adventure.
Day 7: Explore Machu Picchu
Catch the early train to Aguas Calientes for a mesmerizing visit to Machu Picchu. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site with an expert guide, unraveling its ancient secrets and capturing stunning photos.
Day 8: Free Day in Cusco
Enjoy a free day in vibrant Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage city. Immerse yourself in its rich history and culture. Consider booking an optional activity to enhance your experience. Make the most of this day and create unforgettable memories in this captivating destination!
Day 9: Rainbow Mountain
Embark on an awe-inspiring adventure to Rainbow Mountain. Hike through charming communities, encounter grazing alpacas and llamas, and enjoy breathtaking views of Ausangate Mountain.
Day 10: Arrival in Puerto Maldonado*
Fly quickly from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado Airport. In the afternoon, embark on an exciting jungle adventure, exploring unique trails and diverse ecosystems. Get ready for an unforgettable journey into the Amazon!
Day 11: Rainforest Exploration Part 1*
Experience the awe-inspiring Canopy Walkway. Traverse seven suspension bridges connecting eight treetop platforms over 30 meters (100 feet) above the forest floor, offering panoramic views of the rainforest. Later, take a 20-minute boat ride to an uninhabited river island, revealing a striking contrast of vegetation. Prepare for an exhilarating journey through nature’s wonders!
Day 12: Rainforest Exploration Part 2*
Explore the aguajales rainforest swampland, walking a 200-meter trail through this unique habitat. Visit an organic bio-orchard to learn about tropical flora and their therapeutic applications.
Finally, experience the Amazon at night, listening to the nocturnal symphony of birds, animals, insects, and amphibians.
Day 13: Departure
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the hotel before heading to the airport for your onward travel or return flight home. We extend our warm wishes for safe and joyous travels ahead!
